Kidwelly v St. Peter’s: 11th February 1995

This game was originally arranged for 11th February, (as the printed programme).

The game was played on 22nd April. Note the two team sheets.

St. Peter’s RFC – Andy Warhol once said that everyone experiences fame for fifteen minutes and the defeat of Cardiff in a SWALEC Cup competition ensured that the Club founded in 1886 had to wait a century for its place in history. The re-appearance of St. Peter’s in the Fourth Division this season follows the Club’s promotion to Division Three which is testimony to the strength of the squad and the support of its Committee. The nature of league rugby in Wales is highly competitive and St. Peter’s have experienced the euphoria of promotion and the desolation of relegation.
St.Peter’s has a large squad of players with a number of players having played at the highest level. It is also significant that like Kidwelly RFC there is a number of players who have graduated from St. Peter’s Youth XV which reflects an enlightened development programme designed to sustain the Club’s ambition to play at the highest level.
The game played at the Harlequins ground in Cardiff was a comfortable victory for the home XV which will be anxious to repeat the outcome. The most improvement in the fortunes of Kidwelly RFC creates a most enthralling encounter as the spectre of relegation is challenged.
The return to Park Stephens after a two year absence is anticipated with hope that the commitment and passion shown in matches since Christmas will be sustained.
