Why?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Short Answer:<\/strong> The KEYS comes from the biblical quotation Matthew 16:19.<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/8\/81\/Emblem_of_the_Papacy_SE.svg\/800px-Emblem_of_the_Papacy_SE.svg.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"119\" height=\"134\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:Emblem_of_the_Papacy_SE.svg\" alt=\"\"><\/td>\n<td>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<hr>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/stpetersrfc.co.uk\/snr\/wp-content\/gallery\/misc\/Krusaders.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"204\"><\/p>\n<h1>Why \u2018Emerald Green and Black\u2019?<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">St.Peter\u2019s RFC have worn the kit of Emerald Green and Black since the 1880\u2019s to the present day. To be precise the club kit colours are generally four-inch emerald green and black hoops. During the late eighties and early nineties attempts at altering the kit to add a bit of &nbsp;\u2018colour\u2019, namely yellow and white, were introduced.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Is it a coincidence that during those years we found ourselves regularly facing demotion? Who knows? Thankfully in recent years, the \u2018correct\u2019 club colours have been restored, during which time we have emerged from division four and ended the past few seasons comfortably in the WRU Championship.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Again &#8211; who knows? I\u2019m not the superstitious type anyway \u2013 touch wood.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is not generally known exactly why these colours are \u2018our\u2019 colours, but this extract may shed a little light.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>The choice of the Club Colours was unlikely to have caused much debate since St. Peter\u2019s traditional colour is green.
