Faced with a 0-17 drubbing in the first half the Youth boys gave themselves a good talking to at half time and scored 19 unanswered points in the second half. Final score 19-17: Well done lads.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A number of the Youth players also stepped up to First and Second team senior rugby giving an excellent account of themselves. Youth players in the seconds were reported as \u2018genuine class\u2019. The pitch at Aberdare RFC is normally the host for a feast of running rugby, but not today. The rain came in sideways from every direction preventing any sort of entertaining game at all. The Rocks stuck to the challenge into the wind at first half and ended the first forty bouyant, with no score to either side. The second half proved to lack as much entertainment as the first with a rare highlight from Tom O\u2019Brien with a show and go from scrum half rarely seen. The thirty or so yards made set up a maul from which the Aberdare tried to clear, but was superbly charged down by Rhys Meredith who followed up his own work for the only score of the game. Well done Rhys. Well done Rocks. The final score showed a 17-13 success for the Rocks Youth, but more than one of the coaches reported that more clinical finishing could have increased the score by more. With only ten minutes to go the score was lying at 8-8. The away cup game would have been ours. Two late tries by Llanishen took the result. Lexi, along with Jim Sweeney were tremendous role models to many young players at St. Peter\u2019s RFC Youth during the immensely successful years of the early eighties. Lexi (and Jim) were exceptionally well respected within the Club having been at the helm of the Youth set up for the <a class=\"broken_link\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160826172525\/http:\/\/stpetersrfc.co.uk\/Documents\/13-14\/invincibles.pdf\">Invincible Season<\/a> of 1980-81. All credit to a great bunch of lads who played and stuck to the game as best as their hung-over bodies would allow. We have also been in&nbsp;a position on many weekends to field <em>two<\/em> youth teams with players to spare. The current success of the Junior Section suggests that we may grow even further in the not too distant future. Just think A look back into the history of the club notes that in the late eighties and early nineties the Rocks were fielding even more players on <em>one<\/em> occasion raising a sixth team! The club has recently, and gratefully, received this <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160826172525\/http:\/\/www.stpetersrfc.co.uk\/snr\/news\/snippets\/#January112013\">Letter <\/a>and Photograph from Eamon Reavy \u2013 a former player, but still a Rock \u2013 who recalls the first \u2013 fifths. The First XV scored well against Brecon at home, finishing off some excellent running to score three tries in the first half, but some poor decision making from some quarters in the latter part of the first half resulted in a stern talking to at the break from the coaching team. The team clearly took note of the sideline dissatisfaction sending Josh Kelly over the whitewash in the first phase of the second half. Cleanly taken kick off ball was shipped wide early, Johnny Morris made one of many breaks through his opposite number before passing and supporting the ball. The final pass was perfectly time to Kelly who still had 25 yards to go, but unopposed, made it a simple run in. Further second half tries gave the Rocks the spoils 36-15.&lt;&lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160826172525\/http:\/\/www.stpetersrfc.co.uk\/snr\/news\/photos-reports-archives\/match-photos\/match-photos-12-13\/#BreconJan13\">Photos<\/a>&gt;&gt;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Youth remain on top of the Youth League with a 10-10 home draw to Glamorgan Wanderers and the Second XV travelled to Cardiff Harlequins bringing home a 13-27 Win.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A mention and a thank you must go to the players and spectators of St. Peter\u2019s First XV and Youth and also the same of Brecon and Glamorgan Wanderers Youth who jointly stood silently, on the Harlequins for a minute, in respect for Patrick Dacey, player and Youth Captain 1949-51 who passed away in the week before Christmas and whose funeral was held at St. Peter\u2019s RC Church yesterday.
