Dear Families
First up, well done to the boys for winning the District Tournament at the end of September. Let’s hope that this sets the tone for a successful season.
The Rocks Shop
No doubt you have seen that Nick Newson now has premises at the club to sell his wares. So if you need an Iranian national ladies jersey or some badger-skin boots, you know where to go. Seriously, though – tell your friends. There are bargains to be had.
St Peter’s Lottery
The club has run a highly successful weekly lottery for some time, with a jackpot that can reach several thousands of pounds. The chances of winning are much greater than the National Lottery, as entrants only need to select 4 numbers out of 24. Entry is £1 per ticket and the weekly draw is held publically each Sunday in the clubhouse.
In order to help junior teams with fund-raising, the Club has decided to give 25% of all ticket sale receipts back to the age group that sells them. The Under 12’s would like to take this further and allocate this commission directly to the child of the family that sells them. This money will be held by the club to be put towards the cost of any future tour for that player. This represents an easy and direct opportunity for families to raise money. For example: if you sell £20 worth of tickets each week, you would have over £250 in your child’s tour fund in a year.
However, as this is a lottery, the process needs to be tightly managed, not the least because you will be selling tickets to friends and family and you will want them to win the prize. Entries must be dated and submitted to the club (they go into a sealed box) before the draw takes place. Tickets that are not submitted are void and, because they are dated, they cannot be carried forward. The Under 12’s will give out and collect tickets each Wednesday. It is important that we have a number of volunteers to help with this – please let Patsy, Gwyn or Nick know as soon as possible if you can assist. We need to get going right away.
